Cuenca: a world heritange
Cuenca is located in the Southern Ecuadorian Andes, in a four rivers basin, 2535 meters / 8316 feet above sea level. A beautiful place surrounded by mountains and very close to El Cajas National Park. It has an average temperature of 16ºC.
Considered to be the third city of importance in Ecuador, the capital of the province of Azuay has a population of approximately 400000 people; who warmly welcome visitors from all over the world to celebrate their famous traditional festivities.
Cuenca’s historical centre was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in 1999.
