Avenue of the Volcanoes
“It is a paradise for mountaineers who will have the chance to climb high altitude summits without major difficulties.”
The Andes Mountains constitute the longest exposed mountain range in the world. They are located in the western part of South America from Panama to Cape Horn.
In Ecuador, the Andes are divided in two parallel chains called the Eastern and Western range. The first one is generally higher, wider, and more continuous. Between these two ranges there is the inter-Andean alley (Callejon Interandino), commonly known as The Avenue of the Volcanoes.
The avenue of the volcanoes is a series of approximately 15 valleys with an average width of 60 kilometres / 37.28 miles, where 11 snow-covered peaks can be seen.
A paradise for mountaineers who will be able to climb high altitude summits without major difficulties.
