Hiking to the Altar mountain camp
| HikingDepartures: Daily
Duration: 4 days
Notes: We require a minimum of 2 people; starts and ends in Quito
You will discover some of the most spectacular sceneries of the Ecuadorian Andes. The
Altar, located in the central Andes Mountains, may be seen from Riobamba. Its glacier
covered peak has nine distinct summits. The contrast of the snow covered peak against the dark surrounding
moorlands makes for a striking visual contrast. Glacial waters flowing from the peaks
wind through waterfalls and form lakes of various colors, creating another unique
contrast. The most memorable is the gray-green Crater Lake at the foot of the
mountain.
On this fascinating trek, you will walk across snowfields, swamps and rivers. Mules
will carry our food and camping equipment and you will only be responsible for
carrying your personal gear.
Departures: Daily
