Puerto Lopez - an eco friendly town

This small fishing village located in the south of the Manabi province is quickly growing towards an ecotouristic town, where humans and nature share the same space in a friendly way.
Here you can establish your base to visit the numerous attractions that are part of the marvellous Machalilla National Park.
Take a boat from the coast towards the Isla de la Plata, (Silver Island, named after a legend that says that a silver treasure was hidden there) an island commonly referred to as “poor men’s Galapagos” for sharing some of its natural characteristics.
Try whale watching from June to September, period in which whales come to mate at the close by waters. If you like the adventurous side of the sea, take a diving course and become a PADI master but if you don’t want to go that deep there are plenty of snorkelling sites that you can enjoy.
