Ecuador offers a range of places filled with landscapes and diversity where you can practice a lot of adventure sports like climbing, one of the most exciting activities that you can experience in the country. Near Quito there's a place where adventure's lovers could climb "natural walls" and enjoy, at the same time, the colors that surround them. To avoid any damages you should bring the necessary equipment and have all the precautions. You better learn everything you should know about climbing before you do it.

Cuyuja Trough Ecuador walls

It is the future of climbing near Quito. It has the rare capacity of holding sports routes with a length of two longs, with a height of 75 meters. The rocks have an excellent quality but requires a lot of concentration and resistance.  Arriving to Cuyuja is not that hard, if you are in a car you should go through the Vía Interoceánica (Interocenic Road) in the way to Baeza, the you pass Muluaco, where starts the ascent to the Virgin's moor, at 4200 meter above sea level, one of the highest roads in Ecuador. After 30 minutes of driving you'll get to Papallacta, famous for its thermal waters, and then, 20 minutes later, your destination is in front of you: Cuyuja.

What to bring?

As usual, the most important thing is safety, so please never forget to use a helmet. But not a bike helmet, because the zone has a lot of little sloppy rocks that could fall over your head. Bring sunblock, a 60 meters rope, 20 bands and, if you want, camalots from 0.5 to 3.
